| Obverse description | Draped and capped bust of one of the three Saxon Elector-Dukes facing right, sword borne over the right shoulder, enclosed within a circular inner legend. The surrounding field is divided by four small escutcheons bearing the arms of Saxony, arranged at the cardinal points. The legend names all three co-ruling princes: Frederick III (the Wise), George, and John I, separated by the armorial shields. The portrait reflects the characteristic Klappmütze (folded cap) style distinctive of early Saxon taler coinage. |
