The Elector is depicted with a prominent curled beard and elaborately braided hair, wearing a richly detailed fur-trimmed robe with an ornate chain collar visible at the truncation. The portrait fills the broad flan with considerable artistic authority, conveying both dignity and realism characteristic of early sixteenth-century Saxon coinage.
