Reverse description The reverse presents a standing allegorical figure of the Maid of the Netherlands (Nederlandse Maagd), helmeted and draped in classical robes, facing right. In her raised right hand she holds a lance or spear, while her left hand rests upon a column or altar decorated with ornamental relief. The figure stands on a ground line with the date '1786' inscribed in the exergue below. The encircling Latin legend reads 'HAC NITIMVR HANC TVEMVR' — 'On her we lean, her we protect' — separated and partially flanking the central design, rendered in Roman capitals.
