| Popis rubu | A standing allegorical female figure, representing the Dutch Maiden (Hollandse Maagd) or Liberty, is depicted facing left in full length, draped in classical robes. She leans with her right arm upon a Bible resting atop a fluted column, on which the date 1681 is inscribed. In her left hand she holds an upright spear surmounted by a Liberty cap (pileus). The surrounding Latin legend is disposed within a beaded border. The composition is characteristic of late Dutch Republic provincial coinage of the seventeenth century. |
