附加信息

Holland struck gold gulden pieces denominated in ducat weights as a practical concession to international trade — the ducat standard being far more widely trusted abroad than domestic Dutch denominations. By the 1680s, the province was operating at the height of its commercial reach, and gold coinage from this period circulated well beyond the Republic's borders, appearing in Baltic merchant accounts and Levantine trade ledgers alike.

The Delmonte reference places this among a tightly catalogued group with limited surviving examples. Provincial Holland issues of this weight class were never struck in large numbers; gold at this denomination served wholesale commerce, not everyday exchange.
