Obverse description Central shield bearing the rampant lion of the Netherlands, holding a sword and a bundle of arrows, displayed on a crowned coat of arms within a beaded border. The denomination '1 GL.' is inscribed in the field to either side of the shield. The circumferential legend reads 'MO : ARG : ORD : FŒD : BELG : WESTF :' in Latin, identifying this as a silver coin of the Federated Belgian Orders of West Friesland. The shield is surmounted by an ornate crown with decorative flourishes, rendered in fine milled relief.

Reverse description Standing draped female figure, personifying Liberty or the Province of West Friesland, facing right with a lance or staff in her left hand and her right arm resting upon a decorated column or pedestal. The figure is rendered in high relief with classical drapery. The date '1796' appears in the exergue below. The circumferential legend 'HANC TVEMVR HAC NITIMVR' encircles the design, translating as 'Her we defend, on her we lean,' a traditional motto of the Dutch provincial coinage.
