Obverse description Right-facing laureate bust of George III after the first portrait design by Richard Yeo, depicting the young king with flowing hair dressed in laurel wreath. The truncation of the bust is unadorned. The surrounding legend reads GEORGIVS·III DEI·GRATIA· in raised Latin characters, interrupted by the bust. The portrait is rendered in a classical Baroque style with fine hair detail characteristic of Yeo's engraving. The field is smooth and unadorned, with the effigy occupying the majority of the coin's face.
