Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George I facing right, engraved by John Croker in a bold baroque style with finely detailed curling hair falling to the shoulder. The effigy displays a pronounced Roman nose and strong jaw characteristic of the second portrait type introduced for the Guinea series. A continuous Latin legend encircles the bust, separated from the milled border by a narrow flat rim. The field is smooth and slightly concave, typical of early eighteenth-century Tower Mint gold coinage.
