The denomination GUARANI is inscribed in capital letters along the lower portion of the field, with the date 1976 below in the exergue area. The entire design is executed in proof finish with a deeply polished mirrored field and frosted devices.

Additional information

Paraguay struck this gold piece in 1976 under Alfredo Stroessner's dictatorship, a period when the regime actively courted foreign investment and issued prestige coinage partly to project fiscal credibility abroad. The standard circulating guaraní had been decimalized and revalued in 1944, meaning this denomination carried no practical purchasing power by 1976 — the gold version existed purely as a collector and diplomatic artifact.

The Yeoman reference places it among a small run of Paraguayan gold issues from this decade, most produced in limited quantities by European mints on contract.
