Reverse description The reverse field displays a bold plain cross pattée extending to the beaded inner circle, dividing the field into four equal quadrants, a design typical of late medieval North German groten coinage. The cross is rendered in a simple, unadorned style with slightly expanding arms. The surrounding circular legend in uncial Gothic characters reads NICOLAI : DOMINI : OLDENBOR, identifying the issuing lord as Nicholas of Oldenburg. The lettering is separated by small trefoil or pellet stops. The overall execution reflects the hand-struck hammering technique, with some weakness of strike visible at the flan edges.
