| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the ornate interlaced cypher 'EJ' (Ernst Johann) surmounted by a ducal crown with pearl finial. The date is divided by the monogram, with '17' to the left and '63' to the right of the device. The coin's milled border frames the entire composition, and the fields are plain.
