| Beschrijving voorzijde | Within a quatre-foil (four-lobed) frame embellished with floral ornaments, the Visconti-Sforza heraldic shield bearing the biscione (serpent devouring a child) is displayed prominently. Above the shield rises a crowned tournament helmet surmounted by a crest in the form of a winged dragon with a child held between its jaws, rendered in the Gothic decorative tradition. The ducal initials F and S flank the central composition in the left and right fields respectively. The surrounding legend, executed in uncial Latin characters, identifies the issuer as Duke of Milan and Lord of Genoa. |
