His right hand is raised in benediction and his left hand holds the Gospels, in strict Byzantine iconographic tradition. The figure is rendered in high relief with drapery folds articulated in the hammered style typical of Venetian medieval coinage. The surrounding Latin legend proclaims praise and glory to Christ, encircling the enthroned figure within a beaded border. |
