The figure is rendered in the Mannerist style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Roman ecclesiastical coinage. A circular pearl-beaded border frames the design, with the legend VENIET CVM NUBIBUS distributed around the periphery, a reference to the Second Coming from the Book of Revelation. |
