Obverse description The pontifical arms of Pope Pius VI occupy the central field, displaying a heraldic shield charged with fleurs-de-lis and diagonal rays, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield is elaborately mantled with acanthus-style drapery. Three six-pointed stars appear in the upper portion of the shield, consistent with the Braschi family coat of arms. The circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by a plain inner border, with the entire design enclosed within a milled outer rim.
