| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device features the Visconti biscione (viper), depicted as a large coiled serpent devouring a human figure, set within a quatrefoil or lobate inner border. The initials or monogram of Bernabò Visconti appear in the field flanking the serpent. The surrounding legend, separated by a beaded inner circle, reads D BNABOS VICECOMES MEDIOLANI ET C, referencing Bernabò as Lord of Milan. Star-shaped ornaments punctuate the legend at intervals. The overall design is executed in the Gothic hammered style characteristic of late 14th-century Milanese coinage. |
