| Reverse description | Christ Pantocrator enthroned in majesty, depicted frontally in Byzantine style, seated on a jeweled throne with ornate beaded armrests. He wears a nimbus cruciger and raises his right hand in benediction while his left hand holds the Gospels resting on his knee. The figure is rendered with fine drapery folds and a solemn, hieratic expression. The Christogram IC XC appears in the fields to either side of the enthroned figure, identifying Christ in the standard Byzantine abbreviation. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, itself surrounded by a toothed outer border. |
