| 表面の説明 | The papal coat of arms of Clement XIII occupies the central field, displaying a quartered escutcheon bearing the Rezzonico family arms — featuring an eagle, towers, and diagonal banding — surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter, with the keys suspended by elaborate cords and tassels flanking the shield. The heraldic composition is rendered in fine relief with careful attention to the details of the mantling and ornamental drapery. The circular legend reads CLEM·XIII PON·M·A·VIII, identifying the pontiff as Clement XIII, Supreme Pontiff, in his eighth regnal year. The legend is positioned along the upper and lower periphery of the coin, flanking the arms. A beaded border frames the entire design. |

| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents a four-line Latin inscription in large, bold capital letters centered within the field: VTERE / QVASI·HOMO / FRVGI / 1765, conveying the moral injunction 'Use it as a frugal man' — a maxim drawn from Cicero. The date 1765 appears on the fourth line, preceded by a small decorative fleur-de-lis or cross ornament. The entire inscription is enclosed within a continuous laurel wreath composed of evenly spaced leaves, itself bordered by a reeded or beaded outer rim. The plain field surrounding the text gives the design a sober, typographic character consistent with Papal monetary issues of the period. |

Clement XIII, born Carlo della Torre di Rezzonico, spent much of his pontificate under siege — not militarily, but diplomatically. The suppression of the Jesuits dominated his reign; France, Spain, Portugal, and Naples each expelled the order in turn, and Clement refused every demand to dissolve it universally, dying in 1769 before the pressure could fully break him. The VTERE QVASI HOMO FRVGI reverse legend — "use it as a frugal man" — reflects the moral economy theology the papal mint occasionally worked into small silver denominations.
The MIR reference distinguishes four die varieties across this four-year emission.
