| 背面描述 | A depiction of the closed Holy Door of Saint Peter's Basilica rendered in classical architectural style, featuring a pediment supported by pilasters and a walled-up doorway adorned with a radiating glory, symbolising the conclusion of the Holy Year 1750. The date 1750 is divided by the door, with numerals appearing to either side in the field. A Latin legend encircles the design within a reeded border, commemorating the ceremonial opening and subsequent closing of the Holy Door by Benedict XIV. |

Benedict XIV called the 1750 Jubilee — the 25th Holy Year — and used it as an occasion for genuine ecclesiastical reform rather than mere ceremony. He had already distinguished himself as one of the more intellectually rigorous popes of the 18th century, corresponding with Voltaire and revising the Index. The Jubilee coinage was struck specifically for pilgrims flooding into Rome, functioning as devotional souvenirs as much as currency.
MIR 2582 distinguishes two die varieties, reflected in the Munt 54-55 pairing.
