Antivari — modern-day Bar, Montenegro — was a Dalmatian commune that passed between Serbian, Venetian, and Balšić dynastic control through the late medieval period. Balša III ruled as the last of the Balšić line, a dynasty that had dominated Zeta since the mid-14th century. His reign ended with his death in 1421, after which the territory eventually fell to Venice. Coinage struck under his nominal authority in Antivari reflects the city's semi-autonomous municipal tradition, producing small silver issues that circulated alongside Venetian and Serbian types in a region where commercial allegiances were perpetually contested.
