Antivari — modern Bar, in Montenegro — spent much of the early fifteenth century caught between Venetian ambition and Ottoman pressure from the east. The city formally submitted to Venice in 1405, and coinage issued under the local lord Balsa III during this period reflects that uneasy transitional status: municipal issues struck with the apparatus of a nominally independent commune, but within a political orbit increasingly controlled from the lagoon. Venice absorbed the city outright in 1443, ending local coinage entirely.
Dobrinic 3.1.1.11 is among the scarcer documented types of this short-lived series.
