Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Abundius, patron bishop of Como, depicted in episcopal vestments with a nimbus (halo) encircling his head. The saint raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction and holds a pastoral staff (crozier) in his left hand. The figure is rendered in the stylized Gothic manner characteristic of northern Italian ecclesiastical coinage of the early Trecento, seated or standing on an ornamented base. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin identifies the saint, and the composition is enclosed within a beaded circle.
