Reverse description Within a double circle of beaded graining, the monogram of Emperor Otto IV (OTTO) is centrally placed, its vertical and horizontal strokes intersecting the enclosing legend at the top and bottom, with several globules filling the interstices. The monogram is composed in a cruciform arrangement typical of Carolingian and Ottonian tradition as adapted by the Lucchese mint. The Latin legend runs continuously around the field between the double beaded borders.
