Obverse description St. Mark seated facing left, nimbed and draped, presenting a gonfalon staff to the standing figure of Doge Agostino Barbarigo at right, who receives it with both hands in a gesture of investiture. The two figures are separated by the vertical staff, which bisects the field. The circular legend surrounding the design reads the doge's name and title. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the mintmaster's initials appearing in the lower field.
