Obverse description Central field depicts a facing bust of Saint John the Baptist, shown with long hair and a nimbus, rendered in a Gothic hammered style typical of early sixteenth-century Silesian coinage. The saint is presented within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding circular legend reads S IOHANNES BAPTISTA, identifying the patron saint of the city of Breslau. The lettering is executed in Gothic uncial characters. The overall design is characteristic of the late medieval municipal coinage of the region.
