Additional information

Josef II's Bohemian copper issues of 1781–82 were among the earliest products of his sweeping monetary rationalization program, which sought to drag the Habsburg coinage system toward decimal uniformity. The Gröschl — a denomination with deep roots in central European trade — was retained in name but recast in new metric-weight standards that alienated conservative merchants accustomed to older regional equivalencies.

KM#818 is a two-year type, production ceasing as Josef's broader reforms rendered the denomination redundant within his revised copper hierarchy.
