Obverse description Central field bears the crowned and shielded lion rampant arms of Jülich, set within a raised sexfoil frame. The shield is depicted in high relief with characteristic Gothic draftsmanship. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the surrounding marginal legend. The circumferential inscription reads +WILHELMVS: DVX: IVLIACENSIS:, identifying the issuer as Wilhelm II, Duke of Jülich, rendered in Gothic uncial characters.
