The heraldic shield displays the Brunswick arms, consistent with the joint rule of Dukes William I and Henry II. A partial circular legend in uncial Latin letters surrounds the quatrefoil, reading GROS NOV WIL [...] BRVN, identifying this as a new groschen of Brunswick. The overall composition is typical of late medieval German regional groschen coinage. |
