| Beschrijving voorzijde | Counterstamp of a shield bearing a five-petalled rose, applied by the City of Bielefeld, struck onto the obverse of a Tournois groschen issued under Wilhelm II of Jülich-Berg. The host coin displays a crowned enthroned figure in the central field, rendered in the Gothic hammered style typical of Rhenish groschen coinage. A circular beaded inner border encloses the central design, with trefoil ornaments and quatrefoil motifs decorating the outer border. The legend WILHELMVS COMES runs within the border in Gothic uncial characters. The overall fabric is irregular, consistent with hand-struck medieval silver coinage. |
