Stephen II ruled Moldavia under near-constant dynastic pressure, sharing or contesting the throne multiple times between 1433 and 1447. Type V of his groschen coinage is understood to represent a later emission within his reign, though the precise sequencing of Moldavian groschen types from this period remains a matter of ongoing numismatic debate — Moldavian mint records from the 1430s and 1440s are fragmentary at best.
