Obverse description Within a central circle, a horizontally divided shield bearing the two-fold arms of Salza: the upper half depicts a rampant lion to the left above three rosettes, while the date of issue appears above the shield. The encircling legend in Latin identifies the issuing bishop. The overall style is characteristic of early sixteenth-century German ecclesiastical hammered coinage, with the armorial device occupying the principal field.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering IOANNES: EPVS: VRATI(S).
(Translation: John, Bishop of Breslau)
