A floral ornament separates the beginning and end of the encircling legend. The peripheral legend reads IOH.SIG.DG.MARB.SRI.ARCHISE.EL, referencing Elector John Sigismund's titles as Margrave of Brandenburg and Arch-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, struck in a characteristic early 17th-century hammered style with slightly irregular flan. |
