Reverse description Central field bears a crowned shield displaying the Magdeburg arms, set within a beaded inner circle. A heraldic supporter or architectural element surmounts the shield. The surrounding Gothic uncial legend identifies the coin as new coinage of Magdeburg. The flan is characteristically irregular, with flat areas and slight weakness in the strike consistent with hand-hammered production of the mid-fifteenth century.
