背面描述 Central field displays a quatrefoil or cross-shaped ornamental device surmounted by a small cross, above a globus cruciger bearing the denomination numeral, all set within a shaped heraldic cartouche. Scrollwork and foliate ornaments fill the upper field, framing the central motif in a manner consistent with Brandenburg groschen of the 1570s. The date 1572 is divided and positioned on either side of the central device within the field. A beaded inner border circumscribes the design, and the surrounding Latin legend reads MONETA NOVA ARGENTEA BRANDENBVRG, identifying this as new silver coinage of Brandenburg. The strike, as with the obverse, reflects the hammered technique standard for this series.

附加信息

John George served as Margrave of Brandenburg from 1571 until his death in 1598, a reign that coincided with the broader Kipper und Wipperzeit currency debasements beginning to destabilize neighboring German states. Brandenburg's silver groschen issues of this early period still maintained reasonable fineness before those pressures took hold in the following decades — the 1572 date places this squarely in the window before debasement became systemic across the region.
