| Popis rubu | The entire reverse field is occupied by a multi-line Latin funerary inscription commemorating the life and death of Prince Johann Casimir of Anhalt, rendered in compact Roman lettering across numerous horizontal lines. The inscription records his birth on 17 December 1596, his death on 15 July 1660 at the age of 63 years, 6 months, and 28 days, and his interment on 20 September 1660 in the church at Dessau. The text concludes with the dedicatory phrase MEMORIAE AETERNAE SACRUM, meaning 'sacred to eternal memory.' The field shows no pictorial devices, the inscription itself serving as the sole decorative and informational element in the manner of contemporary German memorial groschen. The coin's initials AB appear at the base of the reverse, consistent with the mint master's mark visible on the obverse. |
