Obverse description Central field occupied by a large crowned and elaborately mantled achievement of arms, combining the episcopal arms of Würzburg and Bamberg beneath a bishop's mitre and cross. The quartered shield displays the characteristic devices of both sees, flanked by foliate and scroll ornaments in the baroque style. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design, reading FRANCISCVS D G EPISCOPVS HERBIPOLENSIS ET BAMBERGENSIS, identifying the issuer as Francis of Hatzfeld, Bishop of Würzburg and Bamberg.
