Ernest and Louis Christian ruled Stolberg-Wernigerode jointly under the partition arrangements that fragmented the Stolberg territories across much of the seventeenth century, a dynastic structure that produced a bewildering number of small coinages across what were effectively minor administrations. The 1673 date places this squarely within the post-Kipper und Wipperzeit recovery period, when smaller German states were still navigating the monetary wreckage left by the currency debasement crisis of the early 1620s.

Friederich's corpus remains the definitive reference for Stolberg issues, and #1354 is not among the frequently encountered types in surviving collections.
