Obverse description Central field displays a large quartered coat of arms of the Principality of Anhalt-Zerbst, surmounted by a princely crown with cross finial. The shield is flanked on either side by decorative palm or laurel sprays. The peripheral legend, reading in Latin, encircles the design and identifies the issuing ruler. The overall style is characteristic of late 17th-century German territorial coinage.
