Reverse description Full-length armored figure of Saint Maurice, patron saint of Magdeburg, depicted facing forward in a commanding martial stance, wearing plate armor and holding a lance or staff in one hand. The saint is rendered in the late Gothic style characteristic of early sixteenth-century German coinage. A beaded inner circle surrounds the figure, with the circular Latin legend identifying the saint running between the inner and outer rim borders.
