| Obverse description | Central composite coat of arms displayed on a round shield, surmounted by a bishop's mitre which divides the date 1693 to either side. A crozier and a sword cross above the shield in saltire, serving as ecclesiastical and secular symbols of the bishopric's authority. The overall design is rendered in the ornate Baroque style characteristic of late seventeenth-century German ecclesiastical coinage. |
