Obverse description Enthroned facing figure of King John II of Cyprus, depicted in regal attire with crown, holding a sceptre in the right hand and an orb or globus cruciger in the left. The king is shown in a frontal, hieratic pose seated upon a lion throne, rendered in the Gothic style typical of Lusignan coinage. The design shows traces of fine detailing in the royal vestments and throne supports. A beaded inner circle frames the central effigy, with the legend IOHANES DEI GRA disposed around the periphery in uncial Latin characters.
