Obverse description Central device featuring an ornate crested helmet rendered in relief, enclosed within a polylobe of six arcs. Pellets occupy the external angles formed between the lobes. The surrounding circular legend is struck in Gothic majuscules and reads the title and name of the issuing duke. The overall composition is characteristic of late 14th-century Netherlandish hammered gros coinage, with a bold, deeply impressed central device typical of Guelders ducal issues.
