Obverse description Central field features a short cross pattee set within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by an inner legend band giving the count's name and title, itself enclosed within an outer legend band carrying the devotional inscription. The legends are rendered in Gothic uncial characters separated by decorative stops. The overall design follows the Tournois gros format adapted for Flemish comital coinage, with the layered concentric arrangement of borders and legends characteristic of late 13th- to early 14th-century Low Countries silver coinage.
