| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold long cross pattée divides the reverse into four quarters, each containing a trefoil of three pellets within a semicircular arc, forming an inner circle of arches. The cross extends to the outer legend border, with the characteristic pattée terminals flaring at each arm's end. The two-line circular legend in Gothic uncial script is divided between an inner and outer band, reading the mint name CIVITAS LONDON in the lower half. The overall design follows the standard reverse type established for English groats from Edward III onwards. |
