| Reverse description | A long cross pattee divides the reverse into four quadrants, its arms extending to intersect the surrounding circular legend. At the center of the cross is a small cross. In the four angles formed by the cross arms, alternating heraldic lions passant and five-petalled roses are placed, recalling the traditional imagery of Holland coinage. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters is a devotional phrase punctuated by small crosses. The engraving style is characteristic of late medieval Burgundian Low Countries workshop practice, with bold relief elements on a flat, slightly worn field. |
