| 正面描述 | Naturalistic three-quarter facing effigy of King James III, rendered in a remarkably realistic portrait style characteristic of the later issues of his reign and influenced by continental Renaissance artistry. The king is shown wearing a crown of fleurs-de-lis above a jewelled circlet, with flowing hair visible at the sides. The bust is set within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend disposed around the periphery of the coin. The portrait is notably individualistic and is considered among the finest royal likenesses on any medieval Scottish coinage. |

| 背面描述 | A long cross pattée extending to the inner circle divides the field into four quarters, with three pellets arranged in the two upper quarters and crowns occupying the two lower quarters in alternation. A small annulet is placed at the centre of the cross intersection. The arrangement of crowns and pellets in the quarters is a distinguishing feature of this issue. The mint name appears in the reverse legend, identifying Aberdeen as the place of striking. |
