| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing crowned bust of James III within a beaded inner circle, the king depicted with flowing hair falling to the shoulders and wearing a jewelled crown with fleurs-de-lis. The effigy is rendered in a bold, somewhat stylised late medieval hammered style, with the face shown in a near-frontal presentation typical of Scottish groats of this period. A beaded collar or drapery is visible at the base of the bust. The circumferential legend in uncial lettering reads IACOBVS : DEI : GRACIA : REX : SCT, separated by stops, running between the inner beaded circle and the outer dentilated border. |
