| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing crowned bust of James III within a beaded inner circle, the king depicted with long flowing hair falling to either side of the face and wearing a plain crown with fleurs. The facial features are rendered in a somewhat stylised medieval manner characteristic of Scottish hammered coinage of the period. A beaded border separates the central effigy from the circumferential legend. The Latin legend IACOBVS : D : GRA : REX : SCOTOR runs around the periphery, identifying the monarch as James, by the Grace of God, King of Scots. |
