Reverse description Long voided cross pattée dividing the field into four quadrants, each containing a decorated compartment bearing alternating mullets (six-pointed stars) and pellets arranged in the typical Scottish groat pattern. An inner beaded circle intersects the cross, and a further beaded border frames the outer legend. The reverse legend, separated by mullet stops, is inscribed in Gothic uncial characters and identifies Edinburgh as the mint town, following the standard formula for Scottish groats of this period.
