| Obverse description | Crowned facing effigy of Henry VI, depicted with flowing hair falling to either side of the face, wearing an ornate trefoil-topped crown. A trefoil or leaf ornament appears below the bust at the chin, with a pinecone to the left and mascle to the right flanking the neck within the inner circle — the distinctive privy marks identifying this issue. The bust is rendered in the characteristic flat, stylised Gothic manner typical of early 15th-century English hammered coinage, set within a plain inner circle. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin script reads HENRIC DI GRA REX ANGL Z FRANC, separated by the privy marks of the Pinecone-mascle issue. |
